The source of this noise, this rumble and mumble of motion that carries tension of our times with a humble devotion, is a diesel engine awaiting a hydrogen heart, it beats. in anticipation. to its first jump start. And as I listen in on symbiotic design, a metallic shadow shelters me from a dystopian sky. The cobwebs glide in mid-air, the daisies hold their breath. As the drones, they murmer on.

Music _ Film by Kat + The Hydrogen Drones

Kat is an interdisciplinary artist, eco-composer, researcher, poet + award-winning writer. Her work centres around the imagination, finding new ways to reconnect people with nature + harnessing neurodivergent thinking to challenge the status quo.

Kat delves into more-than-human perspectives, surrealism and flow thinking to address the climate emergency. She uses future folklore to read the world through the eyes of other beings, and welcomes collaborations across brains, species and cultures to address our shared crisis. She is currently on residency in Mexico, exploring surrealism, labyrinth-building and nature-human relationships, whilst learning sustainable practices of Cartoneria and Gravado.

Working across the fields of science, tech and innovation, her aim is to de-silo expertise to make shaping our shared future more accessible. She explores non-human approaches to sustainability and works to reframe the environment as a collaborator rather than a resources to exploit. Embedding research + organic process are core elements to her practice.
